A crash in HGL isn't much of a pain in general. It's a great game with great ideas and great gameplay. I think I'm gonna spend some time on this one for fun, maybe get a few chars through normal difficulty. Still, the unique gameplay for each char is something worth checking out. If you're in a middle of extended mission, that may cause you to swear for a while, but it's bearable, unless it crashes right after getting a great drop, since it may not save it and you'll be left with nothing.
What's bad about this game is that sometimes it decides to crash without prior warning and without any reason on most bizarre occasions (99% of the time when fighting) - kinda like S2FA in the beginning. Wanna screens and pics? Here's some results from google I'm giving you these since my PC is kinda low end (3 years old already) and I'm playing the game with lower detail, so the screens won't be that good. The Guardian wants a splash damage weapon while being surrounded by mobs, the Blademaster wants to do as much damage as possible in the shortest time possible, the Marksman either moves a lot and shoots everything is sight or looks for a nice high ledge from where to sniper his/her enemies, the Engineer is wonderful with his unique bots that can either gun or slice through anything (not to mention they make nice tanks) while he supports them, the Summoner is amazing with his or her demon army and can play a true Overlord (much like the necro summoner/curse build in Diablo II), and the Evoker - the caster who can mow down enemy armies en masse in no time. What was great in HGL is that every character is very different from the rest and has a different play style. So I downloaded the mod, installed it (it was somewhat tricky, but whatever) and gave it a go.įor an action RPG, the ability to play it from 1st or 3rd person is great. However, before doing so, I had to find the 1.2 patch again and while searching for it, found something else: the Revival forums ( ), who made a very decent HGL mod that improves spawns, quests, drops, shops (uniques and legendaries in shops - I liked that, since it's great for casual play and you don't need to do a ton of boss runs to get some), adds dyes and a number of content. Although the servers are down, the SP is still viable (if you discard the frequene crashes that caused many people to stop supporting the game), so I decided to give it a go.
Well, I took a small break from Sacred 2 leveling these 2 days and decided to fool around with Hellgate London.
